Selling on eMAG: Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria from one account

Daniel Pawłowski · Amazonway · · approx. 6 min read

eMAG is a Romanian marketplace that also operates in Hungary and Bulgaria. For a European brand it stands out for one reason: one account reaches three countries, with no subscription and free translation of product descriptions. It is one of the cheapest routes into South-Eastern Europe. This piece covers how to start, what it costs and what to settle before the first parcel.

Short answer

On eMAG you pay nothing for registration, the account, listings or a subscription, only a sales commission of 7% to 25% depending on category. From one panel you sell in Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria, and eMAG translates product descriptions free of charge and converts prices into local currencies. VAT (usually OSS when shipping from your home country), EPR obligations in the destination countries and returns remain your responsibility.

Sources checked: 8 October 2026. Terms come from eMAG Marketplace's official pages. eMAG changes them independently of us, so check current rates for your category before deciding.

Three countries from one account

eMAG runs emag.ro, emag.hu and emag.bg. In its Cross Border programme you manage stock and prices for all three from a single panel, and the commission is the same whichever country the sale is in (eMAG Cross Border). The programme includes free translation of descriptions into Hungarian and Bulgarian, automatic price conversion with payouts in local currency, integrated cross-border couriers and customer care in the local language on eMAG's side.

A note on currency: Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026 (Council of the EU), so emag.bg prices are in euros, while Romania and Hungary still use the leu and the forint. Work out margin per country.

Source: eMAG, start selling. No fixed fees means testing the market costs nothing until you sell, but entry is not free: shipping to three countries, returns, in-box translations and legal obligations all add up. We cost the full picture in our piece on what another marketplace really costs.

Registering a company from outside Romania

At registration you give your company's country of registration, its tax identification number and company documents; VAT numbers from other EU countries are optional (eMAG).

Logistics: shipping yourself, Fulfilment by eMAG and easybox lockers

You can ship from home or send stock to eMAG under Fulfilment by eMAG. Customers in the region often collect from easybox lockers: eMAG cites nearly 5,000, around 4,300 in Romania, 540 in Hungary and 60 in Bulgaria (eMAG). The warehouse decision has tax consequences: shipping from home lets you use OSS, while stock in a warehouse abroad means a VAT number and local returns in that country.

VAT and EPR: the same rules as on Amazon

  • VAT. Distance sales to consumers in other EU countries above the combined 10,000 EUR threshold carry the customer country's VAT, which eMAG itself notes can be declared through OSS. See our chapter on VAT, OSS and EPR.
  • EPR. Placing packaging, electronics or batteries on the Romanian, Hungarian or Bulgarian market brings producer obligations there, as in Germany or France. Since 12 August 2026 the EU packaging regulation requires a packaging representative in every country where you are not established. The logic is set out in our EPR registration guide.

How Amazonway handles it

We run eMAG alongside Amazon and other marketplaces, so we treat it as another channel in the same arithmetic rather than a separate project. Our scope is on the eMAG page, and if you would rather run the account yourself, we also offer eMAG training.
