TikTok Shop in Europe: the first step for brands
Daniel Pawłowski · Amazonway · · ok. 9 min read
TikTok Shop is a shopping feature built into the TikTok app: a user buys a product without leaving the feed, by tapping a video, a live stream or the brand's shop tab. In Europe it operates (as of 24 July 2026) in 10 markets: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and, since 15 June 2026, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland. To start as a brand you need a business account in TikTok Shop Seller Center, completed company verification, a product catalogue and an idea for content, because here content sells, not search.
That last sentence is the most important one, and we will come back to it several times. TikTok Shop looks like a marketplace, but it follows a different logic than Amazon or Allegro.
A note on timeliness: country availability, features and rates on TikTok Shop change fast, sometimes from one month to the next. Treat the dates and numbers in this article as a "state on the day of publication" and confirm the current status in the official TikTok Shop Seller Center for your market.
What TikTok Shop actually is
TikTok Shop is TikTok's shopping layer, that is, so-called social commerce: the sale happens inside a social app, and the trigger to buy is content, not a search query. The customer does not type "sonic toothbrush", they land on a creator's video using one and buy in two taps.
From a brand's perspective this means three things at once: a sales channel, a content channel and an affiliate network of creators. These three elements are interwoven. A product listing on its own, with no content showing it, usually does not sell.
Where TikTok Shop works in Europe
As of 24 July 2026 TikTok Shop is available in the following European markets:
| Market | Status |
|---|---|
| United Kingdom | active (the longest-running market in Europe) |
| Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain | active (the first wave of EU markets) |
| Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland | active since 15 June 2026 |
For Polish brands that last date is the important one: TikTok Shop launched in Poland on 15 June 2026, as TikTok confirmed in its announcement about the expansion to four new EU markets. It is an early-stage market, with a shorter data history than the UK or Germany, so transfer benchmarks from those countries to Poland with caution.
Alongside the expansion, TikTok launched a Sell Across Europe feature meant to make cross-border selling within the EU easier: localisation of product descriptions, shipping to other markets through TikTok's logistics partners, and access to a network of affiliate creators across the Union. In practice it is an attempt to lower the barrier to entering further countries without setting up a separate account for each one.
Rule of thumb: before you plan a budget, check your market's current status and the cross-border terms directly in Seller Center. The list of countries and the rules changed several times in 2026.
Selling models: how you actually sell on TikTok Shop
TikTok Shop is not a single "place". It is several selling surfaces that usually work together:
| Model | What it is | When it works |
|---|---|---|
| Shop Tab | a permanent brand shopfront on the profile, a product catalogue | the base of the channel, but on its own generates little traffic |
| Product showcase | products pinned to specific videos and the profile | buying "along the way" while watching content |
| LIVE shopping | selling during a live stream, presenting the product in real time | promotions, new arrivals, categories that need a demonstration |
| Affiliate / creators | creators promote your product for a commission on sales | scaling reach without producing your own content |
The affiliate model is usually the strongest scaling mechanism: instead of producing every video yourself, you make your product available to creators who earn a percentage of the sales they generate. That creator commission is a separate cost, added on top of the platform commission. More on that in the costs section.
Logistics is often a source of confusion. In the UK, TikTok developed a storage-and-shipping programme under the Fulfilled by TikTok brand. In continental Europe, order fulfilment today rests mainly on TikTok's logistics partners and the seller's own shipping, rather than on a confirmed, unified "TikTok fulfilment" programme across the continent. If logistics is critical for you, verify the available options for the specific country in Seller Center, because this is not something we want to guess at.
How TikTok Shop differs from Amazon and eBay
In short: on Amazon the customer looks for the product, on TikTok the product finds the customer.
A classic marketplace is a search engine with a basket. The customer has purchase intent, types a phrase, compares offers and picks the best combination of price, reviews and delivery. You win with listing optimisation, price and logistics. We describe that logic more fully in our overview of marketplace channels, and the entry mechanics for individual platforms in our guides on selling on eBay and entering Kaufland.
TikTok Shop works the other way round. The customer has no purchase intent, they have a free evening and a thumb on the screen. The purchase is an impulse triggered by content. That changes everything on your side:
- Content wins, not a ranking position. Without videos that show the product in use, the listing sits idle.
- A "showable" product matters. Something that makes an impression on video in 10 seconds sells better than a product whose value has to be explained in a spec table.
- Price and purchase frequency matter. An impulse is easier to close at a lower price point and with products bought regularly.
This does not mean TikTok Shop is "better" or "worse" than Amazon. It is a different channel, for a different buying journey. For many brands these channels complement rather than replace each other.
What it costs: commissions and costs (verify)
Caution is needed here, because rates changed during 2026 and the details depend on the market and category. Treat the following as a reference point to verify, not as a binding price list.
In the established EU markets (Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Ireland), from 8 January 2026 the sales commission rose from the earlier 5% to 9%, with some electronics categories on a lower, effective rate of around 7% (per industry reports, see sources). TikTok also introduced an incentive for new sellers: a preferential commission of 4% for up to 60 days after completing onboarding tasks (for example, adding at least 5 products within 15 days).
What we deliberately do not state: a separate, publicly confirmed rate for Poland and the other markets launched in June 2026. We did not find an unambiguous, official price list for them in a primary source, so check the exact percentage for a Polish account in Seller Center before calculating your margin.
On top of the platform commission come real costs that are easy to forget:
- the affiliate creator commission (you set it yourself, added on top of the platform commission),
- content production (your own video or collaboration with creators),
- logistics and returns, which in an impulse channel can be higher than in classic selling.
For comparison: on Amazon you pay a category commission plus FBA logistics costs, which we broke down in our article on Amazon FBA fees. The difference is not that one channel is "cheaper". It is that on TikTok, part of the budget that goes into advertising and logistics on Amazon goes into content and creators here.
Who TikTok Shop makes sense for, and who it does not
This is the section usually missing from guides, and it is the most important one. TikTok Shop is not a channel for every brand.
It makes sense when:
- you have a product that looks good and "holds up" in a short video (beauty, fashion, home, gadgets, supplements, accessories),
- your price point favours impulse purchases,
- you are ready to deliver content regularly or work with creators, not just publish a listing,
- you have the stock and logistics to absorb a sudden spike in sales after a successful video.
It makes less sense, or calls for caution, when:
- you sell a product that requires long consideration, specifications and comparisons (expensive B2B, technical equipment explained by a table),
- your margin cannot bear the platform commission plus creator commissions plus the cost of content,
- you have no resource for content and treat TikTok Shop as another listing to "publish and forget",
- your product is seasonal or hard to handle in returns logistics.
Practical conclusion: if, after this list, you catch yourself with no one and no way to make content, it is not yet the moment for TikTok Shop. It is a content channel with a shopfront, not a shopfront with a content option.
The first step: how a brand starts
An order that keeps entry tidy:
- Set up a business account in TikTok Shop Seller Center for the right market and complete company verification (registration data, documents). It is the gateway; without it you do not sell.
- Prepare the catalogue: photos, descriptions, variants, prices, product compliance for the market (labels, category requirements).
- Set up logistics and returns: your own shipping or through a partner, a clear returns policy.
- Plan content and creators: a few first videos showing the product in use plus an invitation to creators to join the affiliate programme. This is the channel's engine.
- Measure and decide: test for 60 to 90 days on a narrow range, look at the margin after all costs, and only then scale.
You do not have to enter broadly straight away. A sensible pilot is a few products, one market and a clear content budget, to check whether your product "plays" in this format at all before you build out the whole catalogue.
Where we fit into all this
Amazonway is a marketplace agency. In our Waypoint framework, TikTok Shop sits at stage WP 05 (new markets and automations): first an orderly sales core on mature channels, then a controlled entry into new formats such as social commerce, so as not to derail margin or operations. If you are thinking about launching sales on TikTok Shop alongside your existing channels, we do it as part of full account management, on a retainer-plus-success-fee model. Honestly: we do not promise reach or sales, because in a content channel they depend on the product and the content, not on account setup alone.
It is also worth remembering one thing: TikTok Shop, like any marketplace, is someone else's platform and someone else's customer data. That is why we treat social-commerce channels as a complement to, not a replacement for, your own store, which stays the centre of the brand and its data. Such a platform is built by our sister technology brand Seedlight, as part of building eCommerce platforms. Channels acquire, the store retains.
Frequently asked questions about TikTok Shop (FAQ)
Does TikTok Shop work in Poland?

In how many European countries does TikTok Shop work?
As of 24 July 2026, in 10 markets: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland. The list changes fast; confirm the current status in Seller Center.
What is the commission on TikTok Shop?
In the established EU markets, from 8 January 2026 the standard rate is 9% on sales (some electronics around 7%), with a temporary discount for new sellers down to 4% for up to 60 days after meeting the onboarding conditions. For Poland we do not confirm an exact official rate in this article; check it in Seller Center. On top of the platform commission come creator commissions and the cost of content.
Do I have to film videos to sell?
In practice, yes. Without content (your own or from affiliate creators), a listing alone usually does not sell. It is a channel where content is the engine, not an add-on.
How does TikTok Shop differ from Amazon?
On Amazon the customer searches for a product with purchase intent. On TikTok the product finds the customer through content, and the purchase is an impulse. A different journey, different success factors, and the channels often complement each other.
